Mary Atta-Dakwa

Mary Atta-Dakwa is an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Timothy W. Davis. The newest addition to the team, she began working at the firm in August of 2024 and is admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland. She is fluent in English and Akan (Asante Twi), and is learning Spanish.

Mary hails originally from Ghana in West Africa, and moved to the United States with her family as a young girl. Growing up, her status as an immigrant always played a prominent role in her identity and shaped her experiences in the United States. From a young age, she knew that when she grew up, she wanted to do something that would help make the world a better place. With that goal in mind, she attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, earning her bachelor’s degrees in Applied Economics and International Relations with a minor in Spanish in 2018. Afterwards, she attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, graduating with her master’s degree in Applied Economics in 2020. In her pursuit to create better, lasting change and gain a more thorough understanding of the world, Mary decided to attend law school. She earned her juris doctorate from the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law, graduating in 2024. She shortly afterwards joined the Law Offices of Timothy W. Davis, and has since been involved in representing clients seeking asylum in the Immigration Court and special immigrant status, especially juvenile visas, before various Maryland Circuit Courts.

Mary was drawn to the idea of working in immigration law while in law school. She recalls taking classes on asylum law and finding herself fascinated and intrigued by the journeys, sacrifices, and risks that so many people undertake for the sake of a better life. Since that moment, she decided that she wanted most was to help people tell their stories and reach their goals of living better, more fulfilling lives.
